At Island Renewable & Independent Energy, we're more than just engineers; we're pioneers on a mission to provide sustainability for people who live and work in the Caribbean. Our custom built solutions are designed and engineered in the VI, making us unique in this solar energy industry.
WHY THE CHANGE?
Formerly known as Vital Solar Technologies, our company has rebranded to Island Renewable & Innovative Energy (IRIE), a name that reflects both our technical expertise and our deep connection to the island life we serve. We are committed to bringing harmony to our clients’ energy needs by providing sustainable and reliable power that fits seamlessly into the Caribbean lifestyle.
The rebranding gives us an opportunity to further connect with the Caribbean community and expand our reach. It also differentiates us from similar businesses and allows us to build a unique brand identity as we grow.

The Story Behind Island Renewable Independent Energy (I.R.I.E)
Rob Tutton spent 20 years working as an engineer for the US Navy, with the last five years devoted to rapid technology development. After the hurricanes of 2017 and the grid infrastructure destroyed, Rob began designing solar-battery systems as part of Love City Community Network. He dove head first into solar-battery design, completing his courses to become a NABCEP certified solar-battery system designer, while continuing to install systems.
Rob has attracted a stellar team of professionals that has enabled Island renewable independent energy to transform the way solar-battery systems are designed and installed on the island of St. John. iRIE Solar has designed and installed over 30 solar-battery systems over the past several years.
